ABAM Social Concern, in collaboration with the PMDK Dimapur (ALIMCO) and Mokokchung District Disability Forum (MDDF), successfully organized an Assessment Camp for the Persons with Disability and the Senior Citizens for Zone 1-7 of ABAM on February 18 & 19, 2025, at Impur.
The Camp was held under Assistance to the Person with Disability (ADIP) schemes and Rashtriya Vayoshree Yojana (RVY).
In addition to the need for spiritual care, the physical needs of individuals have become increasingly evident. As people age, their physical limitations often become undeniable, making many elderly individuals feel helpless. Simultaneously, the requirement for assistive devices for people with disabilities has also become a significant concern for many families.
Recognizing the opportunity to serve those in need, this collaborative assessment camp was organized through the ADIP and RVY schemes to provide essential assistance. Assistive materials such as tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, and hearing aids will be given for free to deserving individuals. A total of 350 beneficiary assessments from 39 churches were conducted at the camp.
During the introduction, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener, Executive Secretary of ABAM, emphasized the importance of equality within the church. He stated that the church serves every member without discrimination. He also encouraged congregations to adopt a holistic approach in their ministry, reflecting the comprehensive nature of God’s mission, and this camp is one example.
ABAM expresses deep appreciation to ALIMCO and Dr. Imli Ozüküm, CMO of Tuensang, for their selfless contributions, and the CMO, Mokokchung, Medical Superintendent, IMDH for providing their staff that led to the success of this camp. We pray for God's blessings upon them. Additionally, ABAM extends gratitude to all the churches for their generous service to those in need.
