n February 27, 2025, the Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM) hosted a heartfelt farewell program to honor the outgoing Executive Secretary and the newly appointed General Secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC), Rev. Dr. Prof. Mar Pongener. This event marked the conclusion of his leadership journey with ABAM and celebrated his accomplishments, filled with mixed memories and enthusiastic wishes for his future endeavors.
He was the seventh Executive Secretary of ABAM
The program featured vibrant presentations of songs and speeches from various organizations and institution showcasing their appreciation for his significant contribution towards making the timely relationship between the churches and ABAM.
During his farewell speech, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener expressed his gratitude to his wife and children, the ABAM Secretaries and staff, Longjang Baptist Church, his relatives, and fellow pastors for their significant support throughout his four years of service in ABAM. He acknowledged that they have been his pillars during this time. He also sincerely asked for forgiveness for any mistakes he may have made during his tenure. Finally, he wished the new Executive Secretary the best and expressed his hope for great achievements.
ABAM also congratulates Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener on being appointed as the General Secretary of NBCC. It is an honor and privilege for both Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener and ABAM, in general, to serve in this high vocation. We express our immense gratitude to our Almighty God and the NBCC for the opportunity and responsibility given to him. We wish and pray for grand and significant success in his new assignment.
Reflecting on 2 Peter 1:10, Rev. Ayutemjen President of ABAM, shared the word of God and emphasized that walking worthy of one’s vocation is the essence of success. He pointed out that the outgoing Executive Secretary has been an excellent example of this principle. Rev. Ayutemjen, expressed his confidence that as the outgoing Secretary takes on greater responsibilities, he will continue to fulfill his role effectively and lead the council forward.
Before the arrival of the new Executive Secretary, Rev. L. Yapang Mollier will assume the responsibilities of the officiating Executive Secretary. The handing over and taking over of the officiating Executive Secretary of ABAM was conducted by Rev. Ayutemjen, the President of ABAM.
