Ao Baptist Arogo Mungdang (ABAM) launched the clean election movement, an initiative of the Nagaland Baptist Churches Council (NBCC) on August 27 at Impur, on the theme “my vote, my future”. In a press release, ABAM informed that while declaring the launch, ABAM executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Pongener encouraged all to not be weary but stand firm in the truth to bring changes to “our dysfunctional political system and practices.”
ABAM CEM, convener, Rev. Dr. Noklen Longkümer presented the details on the vision and action plan of the movement.
ABAM president, Dr. I. Lolen Imchen, Ao Students’ Union (AKM), and Mokokchung Town Youth Fellowship addressed the people that they would work together with courage and determination. At the programme, 63 persons consisting of the members of ABAM CEM committee and residents of Impur pledged to abide by the truth and to choose God-fearing and apt leaders who would “straighten the crookedness of the present Naga electioneering scenario.” ABAM CEM visions include: educate the people to choose God-fearing and apt leaders; in the power and strength of God, we will fight against the sin of the corrupted election and work towards free and fair election.
ABAM also encouraged every individual to uphold the true Christian character and work together for a drastic change in the next assembly election.
